Our Simple Cremation Service has been designed to provide an affordable solution for those who wish for a fitting Cremation, but who are on a budget but still wish to maintain a high level of dignity and respect for the deceased. Plymouth and District Funeral Services are able to provide a choice of dignified Cremations, either the Direct Cremation or a Full Service Cremation to bereaved families in Plymouth and the Surrounding areas such as the South Hams and Saltash.

Direct Cremation Cost £1800 unlike others, our Direct Cremation costs, includes all disbursements and fees and you will pay not a penny more, so please before you commit to anything please call and we will do a like for like comparsion for you, not only for cost but care and quality is important too. Direct Cremations from Plymouth & District Funeral Services

Direct cremation is a practical, alternative, and lower-cost option when compared to a traditional funeral service. The Deceased is first cremated without any initial service or procession. A memorial service can then be held, if desired, following the cremation, and at a time, date and location more convenient, and perhaps more fitting. In many cases, cost is not the main factor. The ability for families to "do their own thing" without feeling "pressured and driven by tradition" is often more important.

A direct cremation is the least expensive option, and is not openly available from many funeral directors. Direct cremation is offered by us to answer the specific requests of families who choose the most simple, dignified and economical means of arranging their loved-one's departure.

As our Direct Cremation is an unattended service, we are always happy to suggest different ways to remember your loved one and help your family find a meaningful way to say goodbye. What is included in our Direct Cremation Service is:

Providing the services of experienced funeral directors local to Plymouth, Exeter and Bodmin
Cremation fees and doctors' fees where they apply
Transfer of the Deceased from a hospital nursing / care home or private address in normal working hours
Assistance and advice on registration and the completion of all required paperwork.
A simple wood-based coffin suitable for the purpose of cremation is included
The transfer to a crematorium, and Cremation at a place, time and date we choose with an unattended cremation service
Transportation to our local crematorium in Plymouth with pallbearers and all the necessary staff on the day.
Strewing of the Ashes within the crematorium grounds (other options available at additional cost)
Providing a certificate of cremation

What our Direct Cremation Service does not include:

Viewing at our Chapel of Rest.
No Mourners at the Cremation. However you may wish to arrange a memorial service local to yourselves at a later date.
Choice of the day, time and location of the funeral. This is left to our discretion but obviously you will be informed.
Flowers are not included, however you can send them direct to ourselves.
Newspaper announcements
Where the deceased is considered obese and factors are present, which cause additional or special requirements, we reserve the right to either decline or withdraw our Direct Cremation services at any time. If the need arises make additional charges where necessary. These charges may cover necessary additional personnel or special equipment, or the additional costs of an oversize rather than a standard coffin.
